I guess one of the things that is so depressing about the whole episode is not so much what it says about Ross and Brand, but what it says about the BBC. That Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand were rude and ignorant beyond belief, in making obscene phone calls to the veteran actor, Andrew Sachs, is beyond question. Much of the media attention on the episode has been misplaced, however. Yes, I know it is irritating that a man like Ross can behave so badly, while being paid the princely sum of £16000 A DAY by the BBC. But, to me, the BBC come out of the episode worse than either of these men. At least Brand made an honourable apology and resignation. Now we are given to understand that Ross wanted to apologise publicly early on, but was stopped from doing so by BBC management, who just wanted to keep a lid on things! And the BBC only acted after they had received nearly 30000 complaints.
The BBC is funded by the TV licence - a sort-of ‘poll-tax’ that you and I have to pay, even if we can’t stand what the Babylon Broadcasting Corporation produce. So, in my opinion, the BBC still need to answer some very deep questions:
Why do they think it is justifiable to pay a middle-aged lout £16000 a day?
Why is their first reaction to keep shtum, and not to apologise until forced to do so?
Why should I have to pay a TV licence fee, in order to fund such bad manners?
Surely, it is about time we rose up in revolt against this iniquitous licence fee, and against this disgraceful, disreputable broadcast organisation, which is biassed, liberal, anti-Christian, pro-choice, anti-Semitic, left-wing, puerile and vulgar.
I am so pleased to hear a rational, biblical response from this man. There has been an impression given that criticism of the Lakeland ‘thing’ is only from those who don’t believe in miracles. And, latterly, the idea has been put across that Bentley’s fall from morality is ‘just a slip’ and is in no way linked to the ‘outpouring’.
Dr Carr cuts through all that. He shows that Bentley’s immorality is directly linked to the beliefs, which he has been espousing, and which so many churches in both the US and UK have swallowed hook, line and sinker.
Although this is a sad video, it is also heart-warming. May God bless Dr Carr in his ministry for Him.
Well, knock me down with a feather! It appears that loud-mouthed heretical ‘prophet’ Todd Bentley had another woman on the side. Sorry for being flippant. I’m actually very angry, because this whole sordid episode reflects very badly on all Christian churches - even those of us who have been pointing out that there is something seriously wrong with Bentley. The Gospel was brought into disrepute by Bentley’s counterfeit ‘miracles’ and is now made even more sordid by association with a man who turns out, after all, to be nothing but a charlatan and an adulterer.
This from the FreshFire website:
We wish to acknowledge, however, that since our last statement from the Fresh Fire Board of Directors, we have discovered new information revealing that Todd Bentley has entered into an unhealthy relationship on an emotional level with a female member of his staff. In light of this new information and in consultation with his leaders and advisors, Todd Bentley has agreed to step down from his position on the Board of Directors and to refrain from all public ministry for a season to receive counsel in his personal life.
